What Is A MTB Criterium?
A Mountian Bike Criterium is much the same as a Road Criterium, but on dirt. It’s fast, furious and lots of fun!
The course of a MTB criterium is designed to be fast and challenge the skills of the athletes at the same time, whether it’s a tree chicane, a jump, a log, even technical climb the list is endless.
The length of the course is generally under or close to 1 km, no more then 2kms.
The Knobbysports criteriums run in the same vein but with our own subtle twists.
In terms of how long a race lasts, Times vary from club to club but here at Knobbysports we like to race for 30 mins + 1 lap.
BUT… Just to confuse you all, if course congestion becomes an issue, we are running a shorter course for the Junior’s under the format, first to X amount of laps.
