Tonite’s the Nite

Posted on 31st October 2007 by admin in Events

G’Day All
Well it’s finally arrived daylight after 6pm, lets go racing.
The last couple of weeks the numbers have been great but now it’s a chance for all those riders scared of the dark to turn up and scorch the course.
We will have the latest and up to date results available straight after racing, so don’t annoy me go and hassle Stephen, only joking, but Stephen will have all the results emailled and up on the web by the time you wake on thu.

Road update:
Well the Camperdown to W/Bool was blessed with unusual favoring tail winds, after checking in and finding out i was off in the 3 min bunch, bugger, we headed off, the scratches caught us after 50km but we were unable to catch the guys in the 10min bunch who prevailed.
Last nite’s sandown crits saw a good sprinkling of knobbysports riders with two standouts, Scott L in a break away to the end and James M who fought back hard to re join and end up 5th, me well as soon as it started to drizzle rain i was out of there something about the way b grade generally ride.

What’s on for the weekend

Posted on 26th October 2007 by admin in Events

G’Day All
Well now i’m getting the hang of this Blog, you may wish i hadn’t as i start to bore you with my what’s on for the weekend segment.
This weekend i’m off to race the veterans Camperdown to Warrnambool 70km handicap, don’t know my grade or mark or how many have entered, this seems to be lacking a bit from the vets.
At least i know it starts at 10am so i’ll guess i’ll find out then. Here’s hoping i get a smoky mark and not on scratch, there’s $1,000 for the win, not bad.
My form has been pretty good with 2 wins and a second in my last 3 races with southern vets, and my last win at Braeside i also got the presidents ride of the day, and even prompted Dale W to comment on how good i was going.
The forecast is looking good to with southeasterly wind at the moment so hopefully it stays that way.
Well until monday have a good weekend, and here’s hoping my after report brings good news.
Hope Consto gets a few riders on his MTB ride on sunday, if your looking for something to do i suggest you get out to Lysterfield, if not for the ride then the free feed.
Cheers

THE ORIGINAL MTB CRITS

Posted on 25th October 2007 by admin in Events

G’Day All

Well talk about fast results, they were up before i even got home last night!!!

Great to see 20 riders greet the starter for another round of day to dark racing, check out the times on the racing page, this week saw only the world champ reel off some sub 4 min laps, so the guantlet has been thrown down to the rest of a and b graders, i think this might all change when the return of one S Liston scorchers around the new and improved course, the changes have been a huge hit with one and all so far, it’s 1.4km of smooth as a babies bum, and the rider trains have been hell on the lap scorers.

Next week see’s the first of the daylight crits and the return of the nightly points, so all riders will have instant times, points and series points straight after each round.

Get your training program linked in with wed nite racing and all the results provided will turn all knobbysports crit riders world champs.

Spin Nite

Posted on 22nd October 2007 by admin in Events

G’Day All
I’m looking at starting a Spin Nite, no it’s not Shane coming around and giving us some tips, but a roller nite or wind trainer session.
Mon nites around 6.30pm for an hour, easy cadence spinning after the weekend, to get the deadness out of the legs.
Any takers send me an email or sms,
it will be in Bayswater.
Cheers

Knobbysports Cleans Up at Upper Beaci

Posted on 21st October 2007 by admin in Events

A 33 degree day greated enthusiastic mountain bikers for the series final of the Dirt Riders Winter series. And you’d be mistaken for believing we were back at Bushy Park, as the Wednesday night crew were there in force to try out there form in what was a great event run by the Dirt Riders.

Paul Verheijden, Dirt Riders presedent had procedings rolling smoothly with the loud speaker in one hand and the wise cracks in the other, making all riders feeling like winners no matter where they finished.

So Paul let us go grade by grade at the stroke of 10am and we were all up for over an hour of knuckle nose racing.

The knobbysports riders present (in no particular order) in there respective grades were:

A GRADE
-Scott Liston
-James Mowatt
-Craig Borham

B GRADE
-Leigh Barrat
-Peter Pink
-Nick Kelly
-Paul Constantinou…. (CONSTO)
-Glen McCanlay

C GRADE
-Andrew Wedderburn
-Gary Angec
-Michael Singelensers (EMO)
-Kieren Largey
-Richard Ly

D GRADE
-Andrew Mitchell

And although the results aren’t out yet there seemed to be a few place getters in the knobbysport riders

Scott Liston won A grade, Paul Consto got 2nd for the series in B grade, Leigh Barratt I think got 2nd on the day and 3rd for the series and in D grade MTCH (Andrew Mitchell) took out the series for D grade.

Clearly my memorys abit scratchy, and who knows when the results will be posted on the Dirt Riders website.

If you know the results better than I do, leave a comment.

In Conclusion the day was a pearla and we all had a ball.

See ya Wednesday.

G’Day All

Don’t forget this wed nite starts the ORIGINAL MTB CRITS for 2008 / 2009.

We have an all new and improved, ( similar to the website ), course, come and check it out, gone is the whoop de do’s descent and instead a tad longer flatter style course, but still with some uphill whoop de do’s and that final climb every lap.

Also for the Chardy club a grandstand, that’s right a grandstand and its covered, bring the wife, girlfriend, husband or boyfriend and the bottle of bubbly for the best seat in the house.

So don’t put those lights away just yet, after last weeks working bee, and a big thanks to all those who turned up and contributed, we will see you all there wed.

Cheers
