There has been alittle damage to the course, due to some trees that have come down over the track. There will be a working bee on Sunday the 1st of November at 3pm, so bring down your gloves, shovel, and a chain saw? Hello new and old mtb’ers,
blow the dust off, lube your chain & pump up your tyres. Cos its that time of year again! The Knobby Sports MTB Crits are starting on the 28th of October. Rego will be at about 6pm for a 6.30 start. For all the newbys interested in the sport, i encourage you to give it a go, and enjoy some good old racing with mates without the attitude issues. The mel ref is 72 A1, Bushy Park la and it will be sign posted from there. Grades will be as follows A,B,C,D&J (if you look fast we will grade you, Trophy hunters!). Cost is $7 per rider with kids under 12 free, every 5/6 weeks there will be a pizza night. It will be great to see some old faces there plus new ones for the first night of the Knobby Sports MTB Crits. Pinnacle Paul.
As some of you may know Damian (the scorer) has just finished beating Sir Hubert Oppermans record of riding from PERTH to MELBOURNE. Damian finished the epic ride of 3,450 kms in 9 days 7 ½ hours…with an avg of 4 ½ hours sleep per night and spent the first 5 days riding into terrible headwinds up to 70kph!!! Then the breakthrough after riding for 23 hours made Pt Augusta and finally caught some tail winds, then rode 1200km on 4 hours sleep and eventually made Victoria and then on the last day averaged around 32 – 33km for the last 325kms…
If you would like to come along to a presentation night Fri 5th Dec, Argyle Way Wantirna 7.00pm $20.00 per head, Damian and the support team will be presenting photos, videos and talking about this ride. Tickets are limited to around 100 and the proceeds from the night will be going to an Orphanage in Uganda. Not long now, and the Knobbysports crits will be up and running yet again!
And new for 2008/2009 is the Pinnacle Cycles Saturday morning Crit. Yep you read right, not only are we keeping the WEDNESDAY night racing, we now have SATURDAY morning booked in at Bushy park aswell.
Here’s the low down:
The knobbysports Wednesday night crits, and the Pinnacle Cycles Saturday morning crits are made up of all types of riders, the occasional riders, the groups of “riding buddies” and then there’s the fairly typical XC racers.
As you can see, we encourage a wide range of riders to join in, on a fun, competitive and sometimes punishing (lol) form or riding/racing.
This season, Junior’s ride for free, under the proviso that they are under 12 years old, and their Mother or Father is also entered to race. Juniors will run a short course, under the format ‘first to 5 laps’.
Everyone else will ride the long course. the long course is an easy 1.5 km loop with no real technical sections, a short climb and a few old cars, but make no mistake the course will still challange your abilities.
Grades will be made up of A,B,C,D Women and Juniors providing numbers replicated last season. Races will go for 30 to 35 minutes plus one lap, except for juniors who are doing 5 laps… period.
Each rider will be required to purchase a number at the start of the season, which will also have their name on it, you now own this number plate. We have chosen to do this to make registration more fluid, less hectic.
The Pinnacle Saturday morning Crit will kick off the first round on the 11th of Oct, at Bushy Park Lane Glen Waverly.

8:15 am: Racing.
WEDNESDAY EVENING:
6:00 pm REGO
6:30 pm RACING
PRICING:
-$10 for Number Plate (ONCE OFF FEE)
-$7 each race
-$0 for juniors who have a parent entered to race.
The crits may be heading into hibernation, but that doesn’t mean the riding stops!
Every Wednesday, will be a ride, from the car park over the road from Safeway Shopping centre in Ferntree-Gully at 6.30 for the “fun tree hill” ride.

Hi all, well is on again! With everyone well recovered after the 6hr at Lysterfield we should see some good racing. Ive heard that people have been doing lots of “Training” getting ready for the Dirt Riders winter rounds. Hope to see you all there tonight.

Hi all, well its on again another nite crit at Bushy Park! Have your lights, arm & leg warmers ready to go. Daiman has 3 sets of lights for hire for tomorrow night but first in best dressed!! He also has a set for sale (pre loved) they have a 2hr burn time, ideal for the crits. They are $140, they do need a charger which will set you back $30. Hope to see you all tomorrow night at Bushy Park.
